Whether you’ve just recently been introduced to my blog or have been following my, often bumpy, journey into the blogosphere for, dare I admit it, a few years now, welcome and hello! You’re in for an adventurous experience.
Trying to explain my background is the complex equivalence to explaining politics in 2017, lengthy and up for debate. As a born and bred New Yorker I’m about as New Yawk as it gets. I grew up in Manhattan, then Queens, then Nassau County and both my parents are native to these regions as well (can you imagine the accents?). I live and breathe the area.
I have a Journalism Award from my local herald and obtained a degree in Journalism/Media Relations with a minor in Psychology in 2011 from Hofstra University, a testament to my innate desire to interview people. In a rather big nutshell I’ve worked for various media outlets in the region, along with a top travel firm, and have freelanced for an extended period of time.
For a woman in her late twenties my resume reads the same as a grocery list. While this may sound unstable or chaotic, I like to think of my past employments as a buffet; I tried a little bit of everything before realizing what I want to fill up on.
In the process of it all I came to learn a great deal about what was going on between Manhattan and Montauk- along with other parts of the world. I never cared to narrow my spectrum of interests because doing that seemed limiting. In a world where knowledge is power I consider myself a superhero.
As of 2017, I’m perma-freelance with The Independent Newspaper, an East Hampton based weekly publication owned by Ron Perelman. Here, I began my own fitness column in addition to writing three to five articles a week. I also write for Luxury Living Magazine, a quarterly publication under Newsday Media Group. Thirdly, I manage events and social media with Bethpage Polo at the Park, a role I’ve grown into and consider my summer family.
So, what can you expect from Nikki On The Daily? Everything. When I go on an adventure, be it locally or elsewhere, I’m taking all of you with me. In Omnia Paratus!
